Rikugien is an Edo-period stroll garden built for a feudal lord. Its scenery, inspired by classical Japanese poetry, unfolds along paths around a pond and small hills.
In autumn the garden opens in the evening for illuminations, with the red leaves reflected in the pond. In 2026 the illumination runs from November 25 to December 6.
