The Atami Kaijo Hanabi Taikai (Atami Fireworks Festival) is held over Atami Bay in Shizuoka not just in summer but throughout the year. Fireworks are launched from the sea right in front of the hot-spring town, so you can watch them from the beach.
The late-2026 shows are on Sunday, November 8; Monday, November 23 (a national holiday); Sunday, December 6; and Friday, December 25. Each show runs for about 20 minutes, from 8:20 to 8:40 p.m., and goes ahead in the rain. The viewing area stretches along the shore from Sun Beach to Atami Port, and the sand at Sun Beach gives the widest view. There is no paid seating in 2026.
The shows make a good evening on an onsen (hot spring) trip to Atami. The area near the launch site is closed from noon on show days, and Atami Station gets very crowded afterward, so buy your return ticket in advance or plan to leave a little later.
