KOUGEI EXPO is Japan’s national gathering of officially designated traditional crafts, held each November in a different prefecture to mark Traditional Crafts Month. The 2026 edition, the 43rd, comes to Kanagawa for the first time.

At Pacifico Yokohama, crafts from across the country are shown and sold, and artisans give live demonstrations of their techniques. Kanagawa’s own crafts are featured too, including Kamakura-bori (carved lacquerware), Hakone yosegi-zaiku (wood marquetry) and Odawara lacquerware. There are also workshops and stage events. It is a rare chance to see and buy work from many regions in one place, without traveling to each production area.

The main event runs from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (until 4 p.m. on the 9th). Some workshops require advance booking, so check the official event site before you go.

Dates and details may change or the event may be cancelled. Always check official information before you go. Information checked: 2026.11.02
