The Chichibu Night Festival is the annual festival of Chichibu Shrine, held every year on December 2 and 3. Floats decorated with carvings and embroidered curtains are pulled through town to the rhythm of Chichibu yatai-bayashi drumming.
The highlight is hauling the heavy floats up the steep Dango-zaka slope. Kabuki and dance performed on the floats, and fireworks in the winter sky, add to the spectacle.
